Why Learn Touch Typing at a Young Age?
Touch typing helps children and teens work more efficiently, reduce frustration and build confidence with writing.
Touch typing is a valuable skill for children and teens, helping them complete schoolwork more efficiently and express their ideas more clearly. Many children struggle with slow typing or rely on looking at the keyboard, which can interrupt their thinking and reduce productivity.
By learning touch typing, children develop a consistent technique that improves speed, accuracy and confidence—supporting them throughout school and into the future.

Why Children Often Struggle with Typing
Many children and teens:
- look down at the keyboard while typing
- type slowly or inconsistently
- make frequent mistakes
- lose focus while switching between thinking and typing
This can make homework, coursework and exams more time-consuming and frustrating than they need to be.

I couldn't believe when I started, I would be able to Touch Type over 36wpm!
The teaching was really enjoyable and I couldn't believe that when I started I would be able to touch type over 36 words per minute by the end of the course. I cannot say enough regarding how amazing the teaching was and how easy it was to get up and running.
My sister whom is 2 years younger than me (I am 14 years of age) will definitely be enrolling next year.
What age should you start Touch Typing lessons for children?
Children can start learning early keyboarding skills as young as 6 years old. However, it is important to note that kids this age have not developed motor coordination yet, so our typing lessons start from age 9.
Can Online Typing Lessons for children be as good as Face to Face?
Learning to Touch Type online can offer several advantages over traditional face-to-face classes, including flexibility, accessibility, and personalised learning experiences. During Lockdown, we were amazed by how much more progress many of our students made when completing our Online Course. We have now therefore, made this our preferred method of teaching.
We are able to monitor finger placement closely on the Zoom camera. The coloured keyboard and finger stickers help us to see exactly which keys the students are typing.
Students also enjoy learning in a comfortable and familiar environment, which can reduce anxiety and improve focus. They are also not distracted by having other pupils around them. Our Online courses can be accessed from home or abroad.
