Why Typing Can Be Slow or Frustrating
Many people struggle with typing because they:
- rely on looking at the keyboard
- type slowly or inconsistently
- make frequent errors
- lose time correcting mistakes
This can make studying, working or completing everyday tasks more time-consuming than they need to be.

Yes, though it does require a short adjustment period. You’ll likely feel slower before you get faster, as you retrain your muscle memory. With consistency, most people surpass their old speed and become far more accurate.
Many adults notice improvements within a few sessions. Significant gains in speed and confidence usually come within a few weeks of steady practice.
No — if you can use a computer for everyday tasks, you can learn to Touch Type. The programme is structured and you will receive regular feedback and guidance from Clare or Philippa.
For most people, yes. Typing fluently saves time, reduces errors, and allows you to focus on your thoughts rather than the keyboard. It can make emails, reports and general admin much more efficient.
That’s completely normal in the early stages. Learning to Touch Type is a bit like learning to drive — it feels awkward until it clicks. A calm, step-by-step approach helps build confidence quickly.
Little and often works best. Even 10–15 minutes a day can lead to steady progress without it feeling like a chore.
Temporarily, yes — but only while you’re adjusting. Once the new technique settles, most people end up typing faster and with fewer mistakes than before.
If you use a computer regularly, absolutely. It’s one of those skills that pays you back every single day in time saved and reduced effort.
Yes — that’s one of the advantages. It’s flexible, can be practised at home, and doesn’t require long sessions to be effective.
